Dying Easter eggs has to be one of my favorite yearly projects. This year our chickens have been laying so many eggs we haven't been able to keep up with them. I have been saving some of them for our dying pleasure. Our eggs are all brown, some are very light tan in color, and some are much darker. Two of our hens lay speckled eggs, one with very pronounced speckles, as you can see in the photos.
I find it boring to just dip in one color, so my egg dying is a color layer creation process. My favorites were the dark blue eggs that I put in the green for a white, and the heavily speckled eggs that I dyed orange then put in green. I think they turned out amazing-very earthy. They remind me of plant dyed eggs, and look like what I imagine Easter eggs from years ago to look like.
I hope everyone has a Happy Easter filled with eggs, bunnies, and chicks!
